US: The former chief operations officer of a healthcare staffing firm in Evansville, Indiana, was sentenced to nearly five years in prison after pleading guilty to fraud and money laundering charges, the Justice Department announced Sept. 18. Heather Rene Armstead, 52, of Evansville — also known as Heather Ashley — embezzled more than $400,000 for personal use, according to the department. The money was spent at retailers, including $2,172.33 at a jeweler. The staffing firm, which served senior living centers in Indiana, was not named by the department in its press release or in the complaint.
