US: Fake addresses and maps lead to $2.9M settlement for overbilling Colorado agency. An Illinois-based staffing firm will pay $2.9 million to settle accusations it falsified maps and addresses to charge the Colorado Department of Corrections higher bill rates for travel nurses, the state’s prosecutors announced. Quality Placement Authority, which has since merged into Staffing Network Holdings, allegedly made local healthcare providers seem more distant than they really were to justify higher travel rates, a press release from the state attorney general’s office said. The Colorado Department of Corrections paid significantly higher rates for “thousands of shifts” because it appeared providers were outside a 200-mile radius that required lower rates, the release said. Quality Placement Authority merged in 2022 with Staffing Network Holdings; both are based in Oak Terrace, Illinois. Staffing Network Holdings will pay the $2.9 million settlement through 2030 with an initial $1.6 million due upfront.
